Video production company for Cardiff: a remote studio in a city that knows film

Cardiff has a working screen industry, with BBC drama studios at Roath Lock in Cardiff Bay and crews who move between television, commercials and corporate video. Choosing a production company here means choosing a method as much as a supplier. Notlith is a remote hybrid studio: we create films from your photographs and brand material, with creative direction, AI-assisted imagery, editing, colour and sound, and no crew on site.

When a Cardiff crew is the right call

If your film needs real people speaking, a live event, a production line in motion or a documentary record, hire a crew. The city and the wider South Wales region have experienced camera operators, sound recordists and editors, many with a background in broadcast drama. We will tell you plainly when a brief belongs with them, even if that means we do not take it on.

Our approach fits a different set of briefs: products, interiors, places and atmosphere that can be built from good photographs, and campaigns needing many versions of one idea. For some projects the answer is both, with a short shoot for the interviews and our studio building the product and brand sequences around them.

What our studio delivers

A project starts with your objective and source material and becomes a written proposal: idea, script or title plan, visual treatment and a list of deliverables. Once approved, we generate and animate shots from your references, then edit, grade and add music and sound design. Each step has a named review point, and nothing moves on without your sign-off.

AI is a tool inside that process, not the process itself. We use it to move a camera through a room that exists, to light a product you sell or to extend a background you supplied. It is not used to fabricate people, testimonials, landmarks or product features, and every synthetic shot is listed for you.

Comparing quotes fairly

Two proposals for a Cardiff project can look alike and contain very different work. Ask each supplier whether the film comes from new filming, existing footage or photographs; how many versions and formats are included; whether Welsh and English versions are covered; who writes the script; and how many review rounds are allowed. Those answers explain most of the gap between prices.

Ask about usage too. A film for your website, one for paid social and one for broadcast can carry different licensing terms, especially for music. Our quote sets out what is included and where the film may be used, so it can be compared like for like with a crewed production.

Working with a remote team from Cardiff

You do not need to travel or host a shoot. Briefing happens on a call, files are shared through a secure link, and feedback is pinned to the relevant second of the video. Your team can review between meetings, and one person consolidates comments so the edit never receives contradictory notes from different departments.

If your organisation communicates in Welsh and English, the deliverables reflect that from the start: two masters, bilingual titles or separate social cuts, checked by fluent reviewers you nominate. The demos on this page are fictional concepts; they show our craft, not projects for Cardiff clients.

Plan the details

Are you based in Cardiff?

No. Notlith has no office in Cardiff and works remotely. If your project needs someone on location, we say so before quoting.

Can you work with footage from another production company?

Yes. We can edit, grade and extend existing footage with photo-led sequences, provided you hold the rights to use it.

Do you write the script?

Yes, scripting and creative direction are part of the service. If your team already has a script, we review it against the available material and suggest changes where needed.

Can you produce films in Welsh?

Yes, with translation and voice talent agreed in the quote and checked by a fluent reviewer you appoint. On-screen text is set from approved copy, never generated.
