Nelson New Zealand

Commercial video production for Nelson

Nelson, Whakatū in te reo Māori, sits on the eastern shore of Tasman Bay at the top of the South Island, its harbour sheltered by the long natural ridge of the Boulder Bank. Notlith makes commercial films for businesses here remotely, starting from your photographs, plans and brand material, then adding creative direction, AI-assisted imagery, editing, colour and sound.

A harbour behind a bank of boulders

The Boulder Bank stretches across the bay for kilometres, a ridge of stones carried along the coast by longshore drift, and ships reach the port through The Cut into the Haven. Port Nelson is home to a substantial fishing fleet and also handles logs, fruit and other cargo from the surrounding region.

The city centre runs from the Church Steps and Christ Church Cathedral down Trafalgar Street, and the Maitai River flows through town to the Haven. Whakatū Marae in Atawhai is the marae of several iwi of Te Tauihu. The Suter Art Gallery, the Nelson Arts Festival and the Saturday market at Montgomery Square give the arts and crafts a visible place in city life.

What we make for businesses in Nelson Tasman

The working economy around Nelson reaches well beyond the city boundary: seafood processing, orchards, hop gardens and vineyards on the Waimea Plains and in the Moutere, forestry, health and education, science, and tourism linked to Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes national parks, with Tasman's Great Taste Trail running out to Motueka and Kaiteriteri. Potters, jewellers and other makers sell from studios and galleries across the district.

For these businesses we make product, hotel, property, restaurant, venue, event, corporate, service and social films, as well as AI-assisted campaign films. Each starts from what you already hold, such as packshots, label artwork, room photographs, a floor plan or a process chart. We have no office in Nelson and no crew to send, so anything that depends on recording real people or real moments is filmed locally and finished by us.

Real places, real produce

We do not generate the national parks, the Boulder Bank or the waterfront and present them as your setting. Scenery appears through licensed photographs captioned as the place, and produce, from apples to hop cones, comes from your own images. A view, a variety or a facility is shown only where it truly belongs to your business.

Te reo Māori names, including Whakatū, Tāhunanui and Tākaka, are written with their macrons and as your organisation supplies them. Dates matter as much as names: harvest windows, festival weeks, fire season rules and opening hours should come from your own calendar and official sources, so the film is still right on the day it is published.

Preparing your film

Which films do you make for Nelson businesses?

Product, hotel, property, restaurant and bar, venue and shop, event, corporate, service and social ad films, plus AI-assisted campaign films. Each has its own page linked below.

Can you work with businesses elsewhere in Tasman?

Yes. Richmond, Māpua, Motueka and Golden Bay are no different for a remote studio. We work from your material and the local facts you approve.

Can our film use te reo Māori?

Yes, with the words, names and spellings your organisation supplies or has approved. We check macrons carefully and do not add Māori language or design elements on our own initiative.

How do we start?

Describe the project, share a few reference images and tell us where the film will run. We reply with a proposed approach and a quote.
