Social video ads in Nelson: across the strait and around the bay

A Nelson business advertising on social media may be talking to three different people: someone in Wellington deciding whether to come over for a weekend, someone already in town looking for something to do this afternoon, and someone weighing up the drive over Tākaka Hill. Notlith makes short social video ads remotely from your photographs, with a version for each.

An ad seen in Wellington

For a viewer across Cook Strait, the ad has to answer the travel question first. Nelson is a short flight from Wellington, or a ferry crossing to Picton followed by a drive. If your offer depends on a visit, the opening seconds should make the trip feel manageable, then show what is waiting.

We keep the travel line factual and leave timetables to the airline and ferry operators. The rest of the ad stays on your product or place, built from your own photographs. Views of Tasman Bay or the city appear only from licensed images, labelled as the destination, never as your premises.

Ads for someone at Tāhunanui this afternoon

Visitors and locals in town decide quickly. An ad shown near Tāhunanui Beach or the city centre has a few seconds to say what you offer, where it is and whether it is open now. We put the address, the hours and the action in the first frames, readable on a phone in bright light.

These ads change often: a new flavour, a sold-out day, a weekend event. We build them as short templates from your photographs, so a new version can be cut from a fresh image without rethinking the whole ad. Each one is checked for product accuracy at the size it will actually be seen.

Golden Bay is a different trip

If you sell in Golden Bay, or to people heading there, the ad should be honest about the journey. State Highway 60 climbs over Tākaka Hill on a winding road, and the bay beyond keeps its own pace. An ad that presents Tākaka as a quick stop on the way out of Nelson sets the wrong expectation.

We write separate creative for that audience, with names such as Tākaka and Pōhara carrying their macrons. Distances and travel times appear only if you supply them, and road conditions are left to NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and other official sources.

What changes between the three versions

Three audiences means three sets of ads, not three different products. The product shots, colours and claims stay identical; the opening line, the place reference and the call to action change. If one version performs better, you can see which message made the difference.

We deliver the ads in the formats each platform needs, usually portrait and square, with captions burnt in for viewing without sound. We do not report or promise campaign results: targeting, budgets and measurement stay with you or your media agency.

Plan the details

Can we target Wellington and Nelson with the same ad?

You can, but the message usually works better split. A Wellington viewer needs a reason to travel; someone in town needs directions and opening hours.

How quickly can a new variation be made?

Once the template exists, a new version needs a fresh photograph and a line of copy. Timing is agreed in the quote, depending on volume.

Do you place the ads for us?

No. We create and deliver the video files. Buying media, targeting and reporting are handled by your team or your agency.

Can you include te reo Māori in the ads?

Yes, using words and names your organisation supplies or has approved. We check macrons carefully and do not add language on our own initiative.
