Corporate film in York: explaining specialised work to outsiders

York's employers make an unusual mix: rail operators and engineering consultancies near the station, research companies at York Science Park, confectionery manufacturing on Haxby Road, foundations and two universities. A corporate film for any of them has to make specialised work clear to people outside it. Notlith builds these films remotely from your photographs, diagrams and approved wording, adding creative direction, AI-assisted motion, editing and sound.

Rail and engineering work that happens out of sight

York sits on the East Coast Main Line, and the streets around the station house rail operators, consultancies and suppliers whose work the public rarely sees: signalling, timetabling, asset inspection, design. A film for that audience usually has to show a process nobody can stand and watch. We start from what you can document, such as drawings, site photographs taken under your own safety rules and screenshots of approved tools.

Generated motion then links those references into a sequence a client or new starter can follow. We do not invent trackside scenes, uniforms or equipment your teams would fail to recognise, and nothing in the film should suggest access to infrastructure you do not control. If the story needs an engineer explaining a decision on site, that part calls for real filming, and we say so at the brief.

Science Park firms speaking to non-specialists

Companies at York Science Park, beside the University of York campus at Heslington, often sell work that begins in a laboratory and ends as a report, a licence or a dataset. Investors, partners and grant panels need the reasoning more than the glassware. We can turn a method into a clear run of stages, drawn from your diagrams, product images and plain-language summaries.

Accuracy is reviewed by the people who did the science. Statements about results, accreditation or regulatory status come only from your approved text, and commercially sensitive steps are designed around rather than guessed at. Generated imagery stays illustrative: a stylised sample tray is labelled as an illustration and is never passed off as footage from your facility.

Foundations and charities turning reports into film

York has a long association with social research and philanthropy, visible in the institutions linked to the Rowntree family. Organisations working in that tradition publish careful, evidence-heavy reports that deserve a wider audience. A short film can carry the central finding to trustees, funders or the public, using your charts, photographs you hold rights to and quotations you have permission to use.

People affected by your work are never generated. Where the story depends on lived experience, it needs real interviews recorded with consent, which is outside what we do. What we add is structure, pace and sound for your evidence, plus a captioned edit for presentations, websites and social channels that keeps the method behind the findings intact.

Induction films for teams on several sites

Plenty of York organisations work from more than one address: an office inside the walls, a depot near the ring road, a plant elsewhere in Yorkshire. An induction film helps a new colleague grasp how those parts fit together before the first day. We build it from floor plans, approved workplace photographs and organisational facts your HR team signs off.

Internal material dates quickly, so we plan it in chapters: welcome, structure, safety reminders, tools. One chapter can be replaced when a policy changes without rebuilding the rest. Voice-over, captions, review rounds for HR and compliance, and the formats your intranet or learning platform accepts are all set out in the quote.

Plan the details

Can the film show York Minster or the city walls?

Only through licensed images you supply or approve, and only where they say something true about your organisation, such as where you are based. We do not generate landmarks or imply you occupy a building you do not.

We cannot photograph our operational sites. Is that a problem?

Not necessarily. Diagrams, schematics, product images and approved screenshots can carry much of the story. If the brief truly needs real footage, we tell you before production starts.

Who checks technical accuracy?

Your subject experts. A script and storyboard come to you before any motion is generated, then drafts at agreed stages, with each technical statement traced back to your source material.

Can we have a version for an exhibition stand?

Yes. A silent loop with large captions suits a stand screen, alongside a narrated master for your website. Every format is listed in the quote.
