Product film in Oxford: let the object carry the story

Oxford is a name people recognise, which makes it tempting to wrap a product in spires and gowns. Notlith takes a different line. We produce product films remotely from your own photographs, with creative direction, AI-assisted motion, editing, colour and sound, and keep the attention on what you make: its material, its use and the details a buyer checks before paying.

Not every Oxford product needs a quad

A maker in Jericho or an Oxfordshire food producer selling at Gloucester Green does not need generic city imagery to look credible. The film can open on the object itself, then move to the bench, the kitchen or the workshop where it is made, using photographs you supply.

If you do want a sense of place, we suggest real, cleared photographs of your own premises or street. University buildings, crests and college names are protected and often trademarked, so we keep them out of the frame unless you hold written permission. A product photographed on a familiar Oxford doorstep or bicycle basket can still feel local without claiming an institution.

Exact detail, checked against your photographs

We rebuild the product from your images and compare every generated frame with them: stitching, label text, the colour of a glaze, the grain of an oak chair. If motion changes a proportion or adds a feature that does not exist, we redo the shot.

Send several angles in good light, close-ups of materials and any marking that must stay legible. Packaging should be photographed flat as well as in situ. For food and drink, the product shown must match what the customer receives, including portion and finish. Marmalade, chutney or bread from an Oxfordshire kitchen should look like the jar or loaf on the shelf, not a styled ideal.

Selling from the Covered Market to the wider country

Independent traders in the Covered Market or on Little Clarendon Street often sell both to passing visitors and online. A short film can serve both: a vertical cut for social channels that shows the product in hand, and a longer landscape version for the shop page that explains how it is made.

Statements about origin, materials or ethics need evidence. If you say something is made in Oxfordshire, we ask what that covers. A city page does not establish provenance, and the film will not imply it on your behalf.

Formats, sound and what we hand over

From one approved master we cut versions for your site, marketplaces and paid social, each recomposed for its frame. Music and sound design are chosen to suit the product: a quiet workshop atmosphere for a craft object, a brighter rhythm for a drink.

Two review rounds are planned so your team can check fidelity and copy. The quote states the deliverables, durations, captions and usage of the finished files, so you know what can run where before production starts.

Plan the details

Can we use the word Oxford in the film?

You can describe where you are based in factual terms. Using university marks, crests or college imagery to suggest an affiliation is a different matter and requires permission.

What if our product photos are taken on a phone?

Recent phone photographs in good daylight are often usable. We review them first and tell you which angles or details need a better image.

Can you show the product being used by a person?

We prefer hands and context that do not pass for a real customer endorsement. Genuine consented photographs of people can be integrated where you have them.

Do you produce packshots as well?

Clean packshot sequences can be part of the film or delivered as short loops for listings, provided they stay faithful to the real product.
