Notlith · Bournemouth
Video production company for Bournemouth: an orchestra, a clifftop museum, the boatyards and the heaths
Four briefs that belong to this conurbation: an orchestra announcing concerts across the South West, a museum inside a seaside villa, a boatbuilder on Poole Harbour and a summer warning about fires on the heaths. Notlith is a remote hybrid studio. We build films from your photographs, archives and drawings, with creative direction, AI-assisted image work, editing, colour and sound. Here is how each brief would take shape.

A concert season that tours the region
The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra has been based in Poole since 1979, with Lighthouse as its home hall, and it plays series in cities such as Exeter, Bristol and Portsmouth. A season film for an ensemble like that has to work for every town on the list, with the right hall and date in each version.
We would build it from rehearsal and concert photographs, programme artwork and the recordings the orchestra holds the rights to. Musicians are never generated or animated into playing: hands, bows and faces stay as photographed. Movement comes from the edit, light and type, and each regional cut carries its own venue card.

A museum in a house given as a birthday present
On the East Cliff, the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum was completed in 1901 as East Cliff Hall, a house Merton Russell-Cotes gave to his wife Annie, and later passed to the town with its collections. A museum of that kind sells an interior and a story, not a view of the bay.
For a heritage house, the useful film walks through rooms already photographed for the catalogue, with dates and names checked by the curator. We do not repaint paintings, restore cracks digitally or invent rooms. Where an illustration fills a gap, such as a room as it looked a century ago, it is labelled on screen.

A new model from a Poole Harbour yard
Boatbuilding is part of the working harbour at Poole, from large yacht builders to the marine trades that fit out, upholster and service their boats. A supplier launching a new hull, a deck fitting or an interior range often has CAD renders, workshop photographs and a few sea-trial images, but no finished film for a boat show.
We keep the boat exactly as the renders and photographs show it, without adding equipment, finishes or performance that are not specified. Water, light and atmosphere can be built around the hull; speed and handling claims stay in the spoken script only if your engineers confirm them. A stand loop and a broker version can come from the same edit.

A summer message about the heaths
Bournemouth and Poole are ringed by lowland heath, and Dorset's Urban Heaths Partnership, with BCP Council and the fire service among its partners, has run campaigns against barbecues and campfires on those sites. A public message like this has weeks, not months, before the dry spell when it matters.
We would work from the partnership's own photographs of the heath and its wildlife, plus approved wording. No fire is staged or generated on a real, recognisable heath, and no wildlife is invented. A calm, plain film with subtitles, sized for bus screens and social feeds, usually carries more weight than drama.

Plan the details
Can you make a separate cut for each concert hall?
Yes. We plan the master so venue names, dates and booking details sit on cards that change per version, while the music and pictures stay consistent.
Can a heritage film use our collection photographs?
Yes, provided you hold the rights or the photographer's permission. Tell us about any loan items with restrictions so we leave them out.
Do you film boats at sea?
No. We have no crew in Dorset. If the brief needs real running footage, a marine camera operator should film it; we can then edit that footage with our sequences.
Will a public-safety film be clearly labelled?
Yes. Any illustrated or AI-assisted scene is labelled, and the final wording stays with your organisation and its partners.
