Notlith · Swansea
Video production company for Swansea: a gallery, a Welsh-first script, a retrofit and applicants abroad
Some Swansea briefs could not come from anywhere else: an exhibition at a gallery founded on a Victorian bequest, a script that starts in Welsh, a landlord explaining work required by a Welsh housing standard, and a campus film for applicants who have never seen the bay. Notlith is a remote hybrid studio working from your photographs, documents and references, with creative direction, AI-assisted imagery, editing, colour and sound.

An exhibition trailer that leaves the paintings alone
The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery on Alexandra Road opened in 1911, founded on Richard Glynn Vivian's bequest, and today mixes its historic collection with contemporary shows. A trailer for a new exhibition, a talk or a family workshop has to bring people up from the station end of town, not just decorate a feed.
With artwork, our rule is simple: the work is shown as photographed, with permission from the artist or rights holder, and never extended, recoloured or animated. Movement comes from slow framing, type, sound and the building itself. The curator signs off titles, dates and spellings before anything is published.

Written in Welsh first, not translated at the end
Menter Iaith Abertawe promotes the use of Welsh across the city, with Tŷ Tawe as its centre, and Welsh-medium schools, choirs and cultural groups run much of their communication in Welsh. For these organisations the Welsh script is the original, and the English version follows it.
We plan the edit around the longer of the two languages, so captions and on-screen text never get squeezed. A Welsh-speaking reviewer on your side approves the script, the voice-over and the final subtitles; we do not rely on machine translation for either language. Both versions are delivered with matching timing and names.

Explaining a retrofit to tenants on the hillside
The Welsh Housing Quality Standard 2023 asks social landlords to improve energy performance and decarbonise their homes, and in Swansea that means terraces climbing towards Townhill and Mayhill as well as newer estates. Before contractors arrive, tenants want to know what happens inside their home and for how long.
A film made from the landlord's own photographs of completed homes, diagrams of insulation or heat pumps and plain wording does that job. We never show a tenant's home without consent and never generate results the works will not deliver. Welsh and English versions, and a short cut for door-knocking teams, come from one edit.

Applicants overseas choosing a campus by the bay
Swansea University teaches at Singleton Park and the Bay Campus, and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David has its SA1 Waterfront campus by the docks. Applicants deciding from another continent see the city first through a screen, often on a slow connection and without English as their first language.
That film works from real photographs of teaching spaces, residences and the route to the sea, with captions in the languages your recruitment team needs. We do not generate students, accommodation or weather. Course claims stay exactly as the prospectus states them, and each version is checked by the admissions office before release.

Plan the details
Can we have the Welsh and English films at the same time?
Yes. We schedule both versions together and deliver them on the same day, so neither language is treated as an afterthought.
Can an exhibition film use images from a lender?
Only with the lender's or artist's written permission. Tell us which works carry restrictions and we will build the trailer around those that do not.
Can a tenant film show homes that are not finished yet?
We can use labelled diagrams to explain planned works. Photographs of finished homes come from properties already completed, with the residents' agreement.
Do you visit the campus or the gallery?
No. We have no crew in Swansea and work from the material you send. If the brief needs interviews or live footage, a local crew should record them.
