Event video in Dunedin: from midwinter lanterns to a roofed stadium
Dunedin's calendar runs from the Fringe in March to a lantern procession in the depths of June, with concerts and rugby under the stadium roof in between. Notlith makes event videos remotely from your programme, artwork and past photographs, adding direction, AI-assisted motion, editing and sound. We never generate an audience you did not have.

Promoting an event that happens in the dark
The Midwinter Carnival falls around the shortest days, when a lantern procession moves through the central city after dark. Promoting anything held on a June evening means working with low-light material: grainy phone pictures, paper lanterns against a black sky, faces lit from below. These images carry real atmosphere, but they need careful handling to stay readable on a small screen.
We lift shadows only as far as the photographs allow and resist turning night into a glowing poster. Where an image is too dark to use, we build the moment from your artwork and lantern designs instead. Dates, start times and the route come from your confirmed programme, never from the previous year's leaflet.

A programme with many small acts
A festival in the spirit of the Dunedin Fringe can spread a long list of performers across bars, halls and unexpected rooms. One trailer cannot introduce them all. A better structure is a short festival film plus a set of brief clips, one per act or venue, each cut from the photographs and posters the artists themselves supply.
Each artist approves their own clip before publication, which matters when shows are experimental or deal with sensitive content. We keep a consistent opening and closing card so the series reads as one festival, while the middle of each clip belongs entirely to the act and its own visual style.

Weather on the poster
Forsyth Barr Stadium has a fixed roof, so organisers of concerts and sport there can promise shelter in a way outdoor promoters cannot. In a southern winter that is a genuine selling point, and it can be stated plainly. For outdoor events at the Botanic Garden, on the beach at St Clair or out on the peninsula, the honest message is what happens if it rains.
We include weather contingency only as you have decided it: a wet-weather venue, a postponement date or a cancellation rule. A film showing endless sunshine for an event in May invites complaints. A calm line of text about the backup plan reassures ticket buyers more than any generated blue sky.

After the night
The recap is where AI is least appropriate. A post-event video should show what actually happened, so it needs real footage or real photographs from your photographer, volunteers or performers. We edit that material into a highlight film and short social cuts, with music, titles and captions.
From the same archive we can prepare next year's announcement, clearly dated, so returning visitors recognise the event. Identifiable attendees appear only where your photography consent allows it, and children only with the permissions your organisation already collects.

Plan the details
Can you make a teaser before the programme is final?
Yes, if it promotes the dates and the spirit of the event rather than specific acts. We update the film once the line-up and venues are confirmed.
Can we show a crowd from a previous year?
Only in real photographs from that year, labelled with the year where it helps. We do not generate or enlarge crowds.
Do you supply versions for each performer?
We can, as a series of short clips sharing an opening and closing card. Each act reviews its own clip before it goes live.
Can you film the event itself?
No, we do not attend events. A local camera operator can record it, and we can edit what they capture into the recap.
