Notlith · Kitchener-Waterloo
Video production company for Kitchener-Waterloo teams with designers but no film crew
A software or hardware company in Kitchener-Waterloo may already have product designers, marketers and brand guidelines in-house, yet nobody to turn that material into a finished film with a script, a look, motion, colour and sound. Notlith works as that remote studio: we take your existing assets, direct the film and deliver the versions you need, without a crew or a local office.
Remote production · From your photos

Starting from a design system, not a blank page
A product team in Waterloo often has a Figma library, brand colours, typefaces, product renders and screenshots. That is a lot of raw material, and it saves time if a studio can use it as it stands. We begin by reviewing those files and identifying what can carry a film and what is missing.
The direction then follows your system rather than replacing it: transitions that respect your grid, type that matches your guidelines, colour grading that stays close to your palette. Your designers review the key frames before motion begins, so nothing reaches the edit that they would not sign off.

Hardware and software in the same film
Some companies in the Region sell a device paired with an app, or a platform with a physical component. Showing both in one film is tricky: the object needs to keep its exact shape, and the interface needs to show real screens without exposing customer data.
We treat the two layers separately. Product shots are built from your photos and CAD renders, and checked against them frame by frame. Screens are rebuilt from your designs with sample data. The edit brings them together only once each layer has been approved.

Family firms and long-established brands
Not every client in the Region is a startup. Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge also have manufacturers, retailers and family businesses with decades of history and an archive of photographs, catalogues and packaging.
For these companies, archive material can open the film or frame a change, such as a new product line. We restore and animate old photographs carefully and label them as archive. We never generate a historical scene and present it as part of your company's past. Older logos and packaging can appear in that story, provided the rights sit with you.

When to hire a local crew instead
Some projects need a real camera in the Region: interviews with founders or engineers, a live demonstration in a lab, coverage of an event, a team at work on a production line. We say this plainly in the first conversation, and we recommend hiring a local videographer for that part.
We can still direct the overall film, write the script, plan the shot list for the crew and edit their footage together with the sequences we produce. We can also suggest which scenes the crew should capture so the generated parts and the real footage fit together. The quote sets out what we deliver and what is recorded on location by someone else.

Can our in-house designer work directly with you?
Yes. We usually share key frames and edits with your designer and marketer at the same review stage, so feedback arrives together.
Do you deliver editable project files?
The deliverables, including any source or project files, are set out in the quote. Rendered masters and cutdowns are always included.
Which time zone do you work in?
We schedule calls and review deadlines in Eastern Time for clients in Waterloo Region.
How do we compare your quote with a local production house?
Compare the deliverables: number of films, lengths, formats, language versions and review rounds. A local crew includes shoot days; we include generated and edited sequences instead.
