Social video ads in Kitchener-Waterloo, timed to the academic terms
Kitchener-Waterloo runs on a calendar that most cities do not have. The University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College start terms in September, January and May, and co-op students rotate in and out between them. Notlith makes short product ads for brands that sell into that rhythm, built remotely from your product photographs with AI-assisted motion, editing, colour and sound.

Three term starts instead of one back-to-school
In many places, back-to-school is a single late-summer push. Here, the University of Waterloo's co-op system means new arrivals also appear in January and May, when one group heads out on work terms and another returns to class. A product aimed at students can plan for three launches a year rather than one.
We prepare a core spot and short variants dated to each term start. The opening frames stay the same; the line of copy, the season in the background colour and the closing offer change. You approve the dates and offers, and we never reference a university in a way that implies endorsement.

Move-in weekend has two audiences
Late August and early September bring students into residences near the campuses, often with a parent who is paying. The student scrolls in a vertical feed; the parent may be the one who reads the delivery terms. One product, two reasons to buy.
We cut separate endings for each. The student version shows the item in use in a small room and ends on the price you supply; the parent version shows durability, the full kit or a pickup point in Waterloo. Both are prepared from the same photographs, so the product looks identical in each.

The rest of the Region still shops
Students are not the only market. Families in Kitchener's suburbs, commuters on the GO train and residents of Cambridge or the townships follow a different calendar: Oktoberfest in October, the holidays, garden season. A brand selling to both groups should not show a dorm room to someone in Elmira.
Tell us which audiences your campaign targets and which postal areas you deliver to. We build each set of variants for one audience, so the targeting in your ad account and the story on screen agree. Delivery claims come from your terms, never from us.

Testing hooks with an informed audience
Waterloo is known for its software firms and its engineering and computer science faculties, so some of the people seeing your ad build these platforms for a living. Fake countdown timers, invented reviews and sudden discounts are poor hooks anywhere, and a comment thread can expose them quickly.
We test hooks that are true instead: the product in the first second, a specific detail, a question your customers actually ask. Each variant changes one element, so your results show what worked. Where AI-assisted motion alters a label or a seam, we reduce it until the product matches your photos.

Can the ads show the University of Waterloo or Laurier campuses?
Only with licensed photographs you hold, and never as an implied partnership. We will not generate recognizable campus buildings behind your product.
How many variants should a term campaign include?
That depends on your budget and on how many audiences you target. The quote lists the exact number of spots, endings and aspect ratios before work begins.
Can you write a Canadian French version?
Yes. If you also sell into Quebec, we can prepare French captions and end cards from the same master, with the copy reviewed by you before delivery.
Do you run the ad accounts?
No. We deliver the edited files ready for upload. Targeting, budgets and reporting remain with you or your media team.
