Product film production in Hobart: provenance you can stand behind

For a maker around Hobart, the word Tasmania on the label may be part of what the customer is paying for. A product film has to support that promise without stretching it. Notlith makes product films remotely from your photographs, packaging artwork and approved claims, adding AI-assisted motion, editing, colour and sound. The object on screen stays faithful to the one in the box.

Provenance is a claim, not a mood

Whisky distilled near the Derwent, leatherwood honey from the island's west, cider from the Huon Valley: each product carries a place on its label. The film should repeat only what you can document. If grain, fruit or botanicals come from elsewhere, the story must not imply otherwise through misty forest and river shots.

We ask for your label wording and the origin statements your compliance adviser has signed off, then write the script against them. Where landscape adds atmosphere, it comes from licensed photography and is kept visually separate from the product, so a viewer does not read the forest as the source of an ingredient.

Glass, wax and reflective labels

Spirits bottles, honey jars and skincare vials share one technical difficulty: reflection. Generated light across glass can blur an embossed logo or bend the shape of a shoulder. We work from high-resolution photographs taken from several angles, and check the label, closure and proportions in every frame before you see a cut.

Small producers sometimes change label printers or batch stickers between runs. Tell us which version is current. A film that shows last year's batch number or an outdated cask strength creates awkward questions at the cellar door and with the retailers who stock you.

Wool, timber and things you hold

Woollen knitwear and homewares turned from Huon pine or blackwood sell on texture. A film for them should begin with the whole piece, then move close enough to show grain or stitch, so a buyer understands both scale and material before reading the price.

AI motion is good at light and slow camera drift, and far less reliable at inventing the underside of a bowl or the back of a jumper it has never seen. If a side matters, photograph it. We would rather use a simpler move than a dramatic one that guesses at what the object looks like.

Selling to the mainland and overseas

A Hobart maker selling to Sydney retailers or to an export buyer may need two edits: one that introduces Tasmania to someone who has never visited, and one for trade buyers who want formats, case sizes and shelf presence. We structure the master so these versions share footage but carry different text.

Export markets have their own labelling and advertising rules, particularly for alcohol. We do not interpret them for you; we build the versions your distributor or adviser specifies, and keep claims in editable text so they can be adjusted market by market.

Plan the details

Can you show our distillery or orchard?

Through your own photographs or footage, yes. We do not generate your premises, because a viewer, or a regulator, could reasonably take a generated building for the real one.

How many photographs do you need?

Enough to show the product from the front, back, sides and top, plus close-ups of label details. We assess the set before quoting and tell you if something is missing.

How do you handle alcohol advertising?

We avoid any suggestion of excess, risk or social success, and follow the ABAC code requirements your adviser identifies. Final responsibility for compliance stays with your team.

Were the demos made for Tasmanian clients?

No. They are fictional concepts created with AI to show technique. They are not commissions from Hobart businesses and say nothing about any real product.
