Commercial video production for Newcastle

Newcastle grew up at the mouth of the Hunter River as a coal and steel town, and today it is just as likely to be selling wine, research, health care, design or a weekend by the sea. Notlith produces commercial films for businesses here from a distance. We take the photographs and references you already have and shape them through creative direction, AI-assisted imagery, editing, grading and sound, without changing what you actually sell.

A harbour town between the river and the surf

The city faces two ways. On one side is the harbour, where bulk carriers pass the breakwall linking Nobbys Head to the mainland and the Stockton ferry crosses the river. On the other is a string of beaches and ocean pools running south from Nobbys towards Merewether, with the convict-cut Bogey Hole carved into the rock below King Edward Park.

That contrast gives Newcastle a visual identity of its own, part industrial and part coastal. It also creates a responsibility for anyone advertising here: local viewers know exactly which suburb faces which water, and a film that blurs the two is noticed straight away.

After the steelworks

BHP opened its steelworks at Mayfield in 1915 and closed them in 1999. The port still ships coal from the Hunter Valley, but the city's working life has widened: the University of Newcastle at Callaghan, the hospital and medical research campus at New Lambton Heights, engineering and energy firms, defence work around Williamtown, and a renewed city centre stretching west towards Honeysuckle, served since 2019 by light rail.

Hospitality has followed. Restaurant strips in Hamilton and Cooks Hill, small bars in the East End, and visitors heading on to Hunter wineries or Port Stephens all bring their own briefs. A single studio approach has to stretch across very different audiences without flattening them.

How we work with Newcastle businesses

We are a remote studio, with no crew or office in the city. You send product photographs, room shots, plans or brand material; we propose an idea, a script and a visual treatment, then build the film and its vertical and square versions. Reviews happen online, and every version is checked against your originals so labels, rooms and views stay true.

We are also clear about limits. We do not generate staff, customers or landmarks that are not yours, and we will recommend a local crew when a story depends on real people or a live moment on the sand or the wharf. The service pages below explain the approach for each kind of brief.

Working with us from Newcastle

Do you shoot in Newcastle?

No. Notlith works remotely from material you provide. If new photographs or live footage are needed, a local photographer or crew can capture them and we finish the film.

Can our film show Nobbys or the beaches?

Yes, through licensed photographs used as context and identified as such. We do not place your product or premises in a landmark scene that never happened.

Do you work with businesses across the Hunter?

Yes. Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens and the wine country are all within reach of a remote studio, since everything is handled online.

How do we start?

Describe the project, the audience and where the film will run, and share a sample of your photographs. We review them before preparing a quote.
