Restaurant commercials: a reason to book, before the menu

Hybrid films built from your own photos of the plates, the room and the bar.

Wood-fired cut of meat on the grill in the restaurant demonstration film

Many diners meet you on a phone long before they meet you at the door: a map listing, a delivery app, a booking page. We turn your real photographs into a short film that does the job a good window display used to do. Neighbourhood restaurants, bistros, bars, brasseries, delivery-only brands and caterers all start from the same process, then tell very different stories.

One job: tip the decisionA restaurant commercial is not a menu.

A restaurant commercial is not a menu. It exists to move someone from browsing to booking, ordering or walking over. Three things usually carry it: a dish people remember, a texture of the room, and a clear last frame with your name.

The moment matters as much as the food. An opening needs to introduce a place nobody knows yet. An established address needs a reason to come back: a new menu, a weekend brunch, the terrace reopening for the summer.

We keep the film tight. Every shot either builds appetite or tells people where to go next, and anything else is left out.

Bars, brasseries, delivery brands and caterersA brasserie sells a whole day, from morning coffee to the late sitting.

A brasserie sells a whole day, from morning coffee to the late sitting. A cocktail bar sells an hour and a mood. Modern bistro cooking sells a season and a chef's hand on the plate. We write from what your guests actually come for.

A delivery-only brand has no dining room to show. Its film lives on the food, the packaging and the moment the bag lands on a kitchen table. A caterer needs scale instead: a set buffet, a row of plated courses, the feel of an event about to begin.

Whatever the format, the tone follows your room. A family pizzeria and a tasting-menu counter should never feel as though they share a soundtrack.

What to send usIdeally ten photos or more, sharp and recent.

Ideally ten photos or more, sharp and recent. Include the dishes you want to feature from more than one angle, a few close-ups of ingredients, the room or the bar, and the frontage if it is part of who you are. For a bar, add the glassware and the evening light.

Every plate in the film must match what you actually serve. Tell us which dishes have left the menu and which have been re-plated. If you have fewer photos, describe the project and we will quote; a PDF brief is welcome. The images must be yours, or used with the photographer's permission.

Hybrid film · fictional concept

Demonstration concept: a wood-fired kitchen, from raw produce to the plate on the pass. It shows how a handful of photographs can build appetite in sequence. No real restaurant appears in it.

Matching the package to the momentEssential gives you 15 seconds with music: enough for a menu launch or a regular reminder on social.

Essential gives you 15 seconds with music: enough for a menu launch or a regular reminder on social. Signature adds a 30-second film, a 15-second cut-down, sound design and a synthetic voiceover in one language, which suits a booking page or a paid campaign.

Prestige delivers 60, 30 and 15 seconds, a synthetic voice in two languages and the social launch kit. It fits a new opening or a restaurant with many visitors from abroad. If you change menus several times a year, Maison plans a series on quote.

If you are unsure, start with the placement: where will most people see the film? The answer usually picks the package for you.

Windows, apps and the booking pageEvery film is delivered in landscape 16:9.

Every film is delivered in landscape 16:9. On a screen in your window it plays on a loop with no sound, so the picture and your name must do all the work. On a booking page it sits above the button, never in place of it.

Delivery apps and ad platforms set their own rules on format and content; check them for each placement. Leave prices out of the film itself: menus change faster than video.

When alcohol becomes the main subject, have the film and its placement reviewed before it goes out. Drinks advertising is regulated, and that responsibility stays with the venue.

Example: a bar launches its winter list

A fictional brief. A city-centre cocktail bar wants to push its winter list on its booking page and on social. It sends twelve photos: four drinks shot from two angles, the copper bar top, the room at night, a bowl of citrus and the street door.

We would suggest Signature. The 30-second film carries a low, unhurried voice for the booking page; the 15-second cut-down runs on social.

Shot by shot: the street door at dusk, warm light catching the copper bar, citrus peeled over a glass, the four drinks in close-up, the room slowly filling, then the bar's name and a line inviting guests to book a table.

Questions and answers

How much does a restaurant commercial cost?

Restaurants fall under our Venue film, from €1,090 excl. VAT. Essential is €1,090, Signature €1,790 and Prestige €2,990, all excl. VAT. For context, an agency advertising spot costs €7,000 to €25,000 excl. VAT, with a median of €12,500 (La Fabrique du Net, 30 projects).

How many photos do you need from us?

Ideally ten or more: your signature dishes from several angles, a few close-ups of ingredients, the room or bar, and the frontage. Phone photos can work if they are sharp and well lit. With fewer images, describe the project and we will put together a quote.

We only do delivery. Is a film still worth it?

Yes. Without a dining room, the story is built around the food, the preparation and the packaging, up to the moment the order arrives. Send photos of your dishes, your boxes and your branding. The film can then sit alongside your delivery app listings, within each app's rules.

Is the footage made with AI?

Partly, and we say so plainly. The images are generated with AI from your photos, then edited and colour-graded by hand. Each dish is checked against your references, so the film shows exactly what guests will actually be served at the table.

Can we cater for several menus a year?

Each new menu needs photos of the new dishes. For a single update, a new order on the standard price list is enough. If your menu turns over several times a year, Maison lets us plan a series of films together, on quote, with one consistent look.
