AI video production in Detroit: hybrid commercials for automotive and design

In Detroit, people can tell a real door handle from a rendered one at a glance. Notlith makes advertising films with AI for brands that answer to that kind of eye. We work remotely from your photography, CAD data, trim references and brand standards, then handle concept, script, generation, editing, grading, music and sound. The result is a hybrid film: generated light and space, with the product reproduced to the standard an engineer would accept.

Automotive accuracy is the brief

Suppliers and mobility companies across Metro Detroit make parts and systems that rarely get a cinematic moment: seats, lighting modules, interior materials, charging hardware. A hybrid commercial can give them one without stopping a line or booking a studio. We reconstruct the component from CAD exports and photographs, then stage it in generated environments that make its engineering visible.

Accuracy rules every decision. We do not invent a feature, a range figure, an autonomy level or a safety rating. Stitch patterns, material grain, connector shapes and badge placement are checked against your references in every frame. Your engineering and legal reviewers see the script and the first cut, because in this industry the smallest wrong detail becomes the only thing anyone remembers.

What we will not generate on the road

Driving footage is where AI is most tempting and most risky. A generated car moving through traffic can show physics that are subtly wrong, imply driver-assistance behavior the vehicle does not have, or place it on a recognizable street without permission. For dynamic driving, we recommend licensed or newly filmed footage, and we can cut it together with hybrid sequences.

Interfaces follow the same logic. An infotainment screen or a companion app appears exactly as your team supplies it, with sample data. We never put a generated driver behind the wheel praising the car, and we label generated scenes clearly wherever viewers might take them for real road footage. A disclosure costs nothing; a misled buyer costs a great deal.

Corktown, Eastern Market and the design city

Detroit's advertisers are not only automotive. UNESCO named it a City of Design, and that energy shows in furniture makers, apparel labels, watch and bicycle builders, and restaurants from Corktown to Midtown. Saturday crowds at Eastern Market and the revival around Michigan Central give local brands strong cultural moments to build a campaign around, each with its own audience and its own tone.

For these makers, we rebuild the product from real photographs and craft the setting with AI: a warm workshop, winter light over the river, a summer evening on a patio. A soulful soundtrack can nod to the city's musical heritage without imitating any protected recording. Real dishes, real products, real proportions; the atmosphere is where the imagination goes.

Deliverables, preparation and the limits

A typical delivery includes a widescreen master for web, auto show screens and streaming, vertical edits for Reels and TikTok, a square version, and short hooks for paid social. Silent loops for trade booths are easy to add. Send CAD exports or renders, high-resolution photos of the finished product, material swatches, brand guidelines and two or three commercials you admire.

Some stories need a camera and a crew. A real test driver on a proving ground, workers on an assembly line, a founder in a Detroit studio telling the brand's story: film those. Our method serves launches, component campaigns, design-led products and brand spots where the object and the idea do the talking. We will tell you which side of that line your brief sits on.

Plan the details

Can you work from CAD data?

Yes. CAD exports help us reproduce geometry precisely. We also ask for photographs of production parts, because materials and finishes often differ subtly from the digital model.

Can you show a vehicle driving?

We can create stylized motion, but for realistic driving we recommend licensed or filmed footage. Generated road scenes risk implying behavior the vehicle does not have, which we will not accept.

Who owns the finished film?

Ownership and usage rights, including dealer use, trade shows, paid media and duration, are set out in the quote before work begins, so suppliers know what they can share with OEM partners.

Who reviews the film on our side?

We recommend including engineering, legal and brand reviewers. Each sees the script and the first cut, and every comment is resolved before the final grade and mix.
